University Day, first held May 10, 1961, marks the day North Texas State College became North Texas State University, and is an annual event where we celebrate our university status with free food, activities, and music.
Campus departments, student organizations, and local vendors will be on hand to distribute information and giveaways. A picnic lunch will be served and is free with current UNT Faculty, Staff or Student ID card.
For the 6th year, the annual Flag Parade will precede University Day. The parade starts at 11AM at Marquis Hall and ends on the Library Mall. The official University Day ceremony will start at 11:30AM, which includes a welcome by President Smatresk; a historical proclamation by the Mayor of Denton, pronouncing the college a university; and music by the pep band.
After the ceremony, attendees will be able to enjoy live music.
In the event of rain, University Day will be held in the Coliseum.
