Classroom Presentations

“Today’s challenging economic situation means that it is no longer sufficient for a new graduate to have knowledge of an academic subject; increasingly it is necessary for students to gain those skills which will enhance their prospects of employment.” - (Fallows & Steven, 2000).

Demonstrating basic fiduciary skills will play an important role for most students during their professional careers. Many students are unfamiliar with analyzing job offers to ensure the offer is both competitive and livable. Success for our graduates does not end at graduation; rather, success is determined as they transition to life after UNT.

Core fiduciary skills and other important money management topics can be provided by the Student Money Management Center speakers bureau. SMMC guest speakers will collaborate with faculty and adjunct staff to align their presentations to support classroom curriculum. Our speakers can adapt their talks to any length of time.

DON’T CANCEL THAT CLASS!

Before you cancel that class, contact us. Being pulled away for any reason from attending a conference to hosting a symposium, losing class time with students is always a challenge. Consider scheduling the SMMC as a guest speaker as an alternative to allow students to learn important aspects of their personal financial lives while you step away for a day.

Please note:

  • We find scheduling a guest speaker to be the most successful when students are made aware of a schedule change ahead of time.
  • The best situations have guest speakers incorporated into the syllabus on the first day of class, especially for known absences that may occur during the semester.
  • We have a higher likelihood of fulfilling your request if we receive it at least 2 weeks in advance. We will, however, always do our best to honor your request.
