We are so excited to welcome you to the Mean Green Family and to the University of North Texas community! Our team is working hard to prepare for your summer orientation experience, and we know you likely have questions about what to expect at orientation.
In response to COVID-19, UNT is offering new students the option to choose between a virtual or in-person orientation experience.
Students choosing the virtual orientation format will have a designated orientation time period to complete the components of the virtual orientation. All students are asked to participate in the orientation welcome, complete an online orientation course, and then participate in academic advising. Students participating in the virtual orientation do not log in live for orientation each day.
Students participating in the in-person express orientations will attend all sessions on the UNT Denton campus. Our university events and safety committee has outlined some expectations and guidelines for program implementation in response to COVID-19 and here is what you should expect:
There is an additional programming fee for in-person orientation sessions. When you sign up for orientation, all transfer and summer students pay $45. Students attending the in-person orientation will be assessed an additional $18 fee to their student account to pay for the in-person program components. Information about this additional fee was on the MyUNT portal when you signed up for orientation, and it is also explained on our website.
If you would like to change your orientation from an express session to a virtual session, please email our office at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are excited to be able to offer you an in-person orientation experience. In order to do so, we need to make sure we are being as safe as possible and following university guidelines for program implementation. We look forward to seeing you at orientation this summer!
To help answer questions that you may have, we have organized a Q&A webinar about summer orientation.
