Graduation Stoles

Thank you for your interest in receiving a First-Generation stole, we commend you on your upcoming graduation! Please do not hesitate to reach out and let us know how you are doing and tag us in your photos so we may celebrate you digitally as well. Remember eligibility requirements must be completed prior to completing the application linked below, and proof of engagement and completion of activity will be required. If you have not completed mandatory requirements, please keep reading for more information below.  Also, at this time we are only providing stoles to December 2021 grads only. A separate application will be released in Spring for Spring 2022 grads.

To receive a Fall 2021 Graduation stole, graduates must complete one (1) activity for each part. There are a total of three (3) parts, so students will complete a total of three (3) activities. They are free to utilize all the resources but only one is needed and will be counted towards the completion of the part. Parts are listed below with links to external websites if applicable.

Part One: Complete one of the activities listed below in this section.

  • Activity 1: Complete one Coursera or LinkedIn Learning Course. To provide proof of completion please screenshot the completion page. This website provides links to both Coursera and LinkedIn Learning courses: https://success.unt.edu/get-hired/research
  • Activity 2: Watch a Get Hired, Grads Industry Panel video and answer follow-up questions. Questions will be provided in the application. To access these panels, select the link below and scroll to the bottom of the page. https://success.unt.edu/get-hired
  • Activity 3: Watch Practical Career Advice Videos from UNT Students and Alumni video and answer follow-up questions. Questions will be provided in the application. Part Two: Complete one of the activities listed below in this section.

  • Activity 1: Register and Attend one Career Center Workshop/Event. Screenshot sign-up page, or email confirmation for credit.
  • Activity 2: Schedule and attend one meeting with a Career Coach. Screenshot sign-up page, or email confirmation for credit.
  • Activity 3: Schedule and attend one meeting with a Student Money Management Center Coach. Screenshot sign-up page, or email confirmation for credit.

Part Three: Complete one of the activities listed below in this section.

  • Activity 1: Schedule and Attend a meeting with the FGSC staff to discuss plans after graduation. Please schedule meetings through Navigate, which can be accessed through the mobile app or website. When Scheduling select the First Generation Success Center as the Care Unit, choose whether you want to meet virtually or in-person, then select Career Development/Graduate School as the service.   • Activity 2: Record a 3-5 minute video detailing your journey through college, obstacles, triumphs, and advice. We hope this gives you the opportunity to reflect on your journey and consider the opportunity you have to mentor others that you encounter who might have some of the same hurdles in their journey. Please submit paragraphs in dropbox on the form as a word or pdf document. Please let us know if we could share your testimony without your name to maintain confidentiality.
  • Activity 3: Write 1-2 paragraphs (no more than a page) detailing your journey through college, obstacles, triumphs, and advice. We hope this gives you the opportunity to reflect on your journey and consider the opportunity you have to mentor others that you encounter who might have some of the same hurdles in their journey.
