To improve the state's postsecondary participation and graduation rates, the Texas House of Representatives passed House Bill 5, requiring eighth-grade students to choose academic tracks, called endorsements, they want to follow in high school in pursuit of a career. However, because many schools lack resources, students often make that choice without adequate career advice. As a result, a majority of college freshmen arrive on campus without a clear plan.
Here are the Denton County schools that have partnered with High School Career Connect to provide those missing resources and better prepare their students for their lives beyond high school. HSCC has also created a website for each of our partner schools. Each site includes information on the mentors who serve the school, their schedule on campus, the school's endorsements, and contact information.
