Counseling and Testing Services

Counseling and Testing Services (CTS) provides comprehensive psychological services to all UNT students. CTS consists of two inter-related parts: Counseling Services and Testing Services. We invite you to explore our programs and services and let us know how we can help you.

At this point in the semester, we are experiencing a high volume of students requesting services and have a limited number of available weekly individual appointments. If you are in need of counseling, please contact us for an initial consultation appointment (ICON). During this appointment, you will meet with a clinician who will work to assist you with your concerns and discuss options for self-help Therapy-Assisted Online (TAO), workshops, group counseling, and/or individual counseling every 2 weeks.

If you are needing weekly or long-term counseling, the clinician may discuss community or other on-campus free/low-cost counseling options (e.g., Counseling and Human Development Center 940-565-2970, Psychology Clinic 940-565-2631, Child and Family Resource Center 940-565-2066, UNT Well 940-565-2614).

If you are concerned for your or someone else’s safety (e.g., thoughts of harming yourself or others), please note that we have walk-in counselors available Monday-Friday 8-4pm, in Chestnut 311.  After hours, call UNT Police at 940-565-3000 and ask for the on-call counselor.  You may also call Denton County MHMR Crisis line 1-800-762-0157 (24 hours per day) or the National Suicide Prevention Hotline at 1-800-273-8255 (24 hours per day)  and a live chat is available at http://www.suicidepreventionlifeline.org.

WE'RE HERE FOR YOU. Starting college can be both an exciting and scary time. We recognize that many UNT students need help during this transition and are being impacted by historical and recent events as well. Our staff are here to help you navigate through these times.

We support the decision of UNT Dining Services to stand with our diverse community and take action when a publicized racist act was committed in our dining halls.  If this or other acts of oppression has impacted you, please know that we are here to support you!
