​EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR NTD AUDITIONS!

Audition Attire:

• Day 1: ALL KELLY GREEN dance crop top/sports bra; Day 2: ALL WHITE dance crop top/sports bra
• Dance Hot/Spandex shorts (any black)
• Pirouettes, Jazz shoes or athletic sneakers (feet MUST be FULLY covered; no socks) 
• Hair should be styled down - NO Ponytails or 1/2 Up or 1/2 Down; hair can be styled however you'd like for solo presentation
• One pair of rhinestone earrings may be worn - ALL other jewelry must be removed and small tattoos can be visible.
• Male Dancers - Day 1: Solid GREEN short sleeve shirt; Day 2: Solid WHITE short sleeve shirt and short/pants that offer full range of motion

Required Audition Paperwork includes:

1. Fill out 2023-2024 North Texas Dancers Audition Registration Form. Audition fee of $50 (non-refundable). REGISTRATION IS CLOSED
2. Read fully - 2023-2024 North Texas Dancers Audition Packet 
3. Once audition fee is processed, you will be sent our 2023-2024 Audition Application to upload the required documentation: 1) Recent Headshot 2) Unofficial Transcript, 3) UNT Acceptance Letter (only entering freshmen/ transfer students), 4) Copy of Insurance Card and/or Upload a completed copy of the Waiver Form (if you do not have insurance) - North Texas Dancers Waiver Form 5) Recommendation Letter
4. Email our Spirit Coordinator, Tracy Frier at tracy.frier@unt.edu, if you are still waiting to hear if you have been accepted in UNT.

Required Technique: The following technique will be incorporated into the audition routine but is not limited to.

1. Double/triple/quad pirouette
2. Jumps (Toe touch, hurdler, firebird)
3. Challenging a La second sequences (floats, attitude, spot change, tempo change) must be executed on the right. 
4. Leap variations (center leap, calypso, switch leap, switch arabesque, turning disc) 
5. Leg hold turns (front, side, or back on either side) 
6. Extensions (tilt, needle, penche, front leg hold) 
7. Tricks (aerials, butterflies, Kip ups, headsprings, rubber bands)

For the day of auditions, each dancer is encouraged to bring:

• Water and Snacks
• Hand sanitizer
• Hair and makeup products
• Jazz shoes, pirouettes and sneakers
• Any other extra items you might need!

 

**TENTATIVE** Audition Schedule 

Audition hopefuls will perform in various groups throughout each audition round. Hopefuls will have 20 minutes to run-through material before the first round begins. Cuts will be made between the first and second rounds, and during the final round.

Day 1 - APRIL/MAY: AUDITION DAY – ALL ROUNDS - Closed to the public

9:00am First Round - TECHNIQUE WORKSHOP (Freestyle & Skill Combos)

10:15am Second Round - STYLE ROUTINES (Jazz and Pom Combos)

11:30am Announce Finalists. Participants (numbers not names) moving onto Finals will be announced via social media @ntxdancers (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook)

12:30pm Final Round – INTERVIEW & GAME DAY WORKSHOP 

3:30pm Judges Deliberation

4:00pm 2023-2024 North Texas Dancers Squad will be announced. New squad members must stay for new team meeting to receive program packets.

5:00pm Dismissal

Day 2 - APRIL/MAY: NEW TEAM PRACTICE - Closed to the public

9:00am New Team Practice

3:00pm Dismissal
