Our accommodations and case management system, AIM, is transitioning to a new version on May 9th, 2025 at UNT.

The core functions for Faculty will operate the same, such as completing an Alternative Testing Agreement (ATA), uploading tests/quizzes, and reviewing/exporting a list of students in their classes with accommodations. The appearance of the system will just look slightly different.

An example of the change in appearance:

Instructor Portal modules in current version (v4):

However, this new version of AIM will allow instructors additional functionality such:

  • The ability for faculty to see all of the books/materials our Alternative Format Lab is working on
  • More information about the status of Access to Lecture/Notetaking services in each class
  • Greater detail information about the Communication Access providers (ASL Interpreters/CART) assigned to their class
  • Search for all students with a certain accommodation (eligibility) such as 1.5x on tests (This helps to be able to go into Canvas and set it all up at once.)
  • Upload the course syllabus for our team to reference when supporting students

We have recorded several AIM training videos, embedded throughout AIM, to assist with navigation. Based on faculty feedback, we will continue to develop more training videos and resource materials over Summer 2025 with the "new look."

Additionally, over Summer 2025, we will pilot two new features within AIM. We will pilot these with specific students and with faculty buy-in to decide if/when and how to roll these features out.

  • Flex Plan Module: Currently, if a student has an approved accommodation in a given class for Modification of Course Attendance Policy or Occasional Extension of Due Dates, faculty have an optional form they may complete with the student. The purpose of this form is to document the shared understanding of how these accommodations will look in the class. AIM has a module which enables faculty to do this all within AIM and it be much easier.
  • Testing Center Upload of Exams to AIM: Currently, if a faculty opts for an exam to be returned to the faculty or a TA via email, it is scanned and emailed. AIM has increased security measures to allow the Testing Center to upload the completed test to AIM for faculty (or a TA) to download.

We will continue to update the FAQs below as we receive questions/concerns from faculty. We invite open conversation and feedback. Please contact Jessica Stone, ODA Director, at Jessica.Stone@unt.edu. Thank you!

Training Opportunities:

  • ODA Office Hours – We will be hosting weekly office hours virtually to support faculty with learning how to use AIM, especially with the “new look”, and then providing the opportunity to answer any questions or concerns faculty may have. These will alternate on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from May to October. For our list of dates and to sign up, please view this Bridge link. We hope to see you!
  • ODA Town Hall – We will be hosting our annual Town Hall for Faculty/Staff. This event shares updates on UNT policies, ODA procedures and staff, and other important information to prepare faculty and staff for the next academic year. We had close to 150 participants last year! Sign up for this virtual event on August 13, 2025 at 2pm via this Bridge link.
