Dianne Baskin

Position Title:

Dianne Baskin was a school counselor for 23 years before retiring from Strickland Middle School in Denton ISD in 2017. Dianne was also closely involved with UBMS at UNT for 10 years which began her love for all things TRIO!  Missing working with the middle school kids, she started working with Talent Search last year at her old school, reconnecting with the staff and the students and finding out working a few hours a week was better than full time:) Helping students find their way toward the future is very fulfilling!

In her spare time, Dianne spends her time fighting the weeds in her garden; attempting to be an artist with acrylics, watercolors, and any other medium that looks like fun; and traveling to as many places as she can around the world. Last year she took a cruise on a very small boat up the coast of Norway across the Arctic Circle to see the Northern Lights; and visited Las Vegas, Santa Fe, and climbed out on the Skywalk over the Grand Canyon. She also navigated around southwest Ireland directing her patient husband, Joe, along very narrow country roads, stopping at every beach (to collect sand for her collection), and reminding him to drive on the OTHER side of the road. More recently she and her husband traveled to the east coast (more beaches) with two dogs (Jethro Gibbs and Dinozzo) pulling their travel trailer (The Tiny House).  Life is good!!
