The We Mean Green Fund/Innovation Greenhouse Sustainability Hackathon was a program that was created to help students develop ideas based on the parameters of the We Mean Green Fund. The hackathon was an ideal opportunity to engage with students about sustainability and generate potentially fundable projects for the We Mean Green Fund. Students that participated in the hackathon had the opportunity to attend educational lectures on sustainability topics and were given access to sustainability experts who could advise their proposal development. Access to these experts, along with the project development experience that students gained during the hackathon, was a great learning experience for the students as well as a rare opportunity for them to become project leaders on proposals implemented under their direction.
This project was proposed in January of 2016, with the support of the We Mean Green Fund and UNT College of Arts & Science’s Innovation Greenhouse. It was implemented during the spring of 2016.
