Briana McCarthy

Department: Career Center

Bio:I am originally from the suburbs of Chicago and moved to Texas to complete my high school education. I have a B.A. in Psychology with a Minor in English, and a Masters in Higher Education, Specializing in Student Affairs, both from UNT. After graduation, I started working as the Interview Coordinator for the UNT Career Center and have loved every minute.

What does your role entail/what do you do: I work with various employers to coordinate interview schedules on Handshake. Employers come to campus to conduct their interviews with multiple UNT students in our new interview suites in Sage Hall 202. I also help coordinate all of our events, including Career Fairs, and the Professional Networking Series.

What is your favorite part about working at UNT: My favorite part is being able to help students find job opportunities that suit their passions and start them on the first step of their careers.

How have UNT students impacted your life: “The students that I have worked with continue to drive my passion for career education. Each time I teach a student new interviewing skills and job preparation, it inspires me to continue my work and find more opportunities for our mean green family as they leave our nest.”

Fun fact about you: “I have a cat named Obi-Wan! I grew up watching Star Wars and it just made sense to name my new fur ball after my favorite character.”

What's an identity you're proud to share with others at UNT? I am a UNT Alum twice over! I completed my undergraduate degree in 2019, and my graduate degree in 2021. My experiences inspired me to become a full-time staff member so I may continue to help our students grow.
