Detra Craig

Department: Student Support Services

Bio: Student Support Services is a federally funded TRIO program that provides academic support for first-generation, low-income and disabled students. As a first-generation college student, Detra found it challenging to find the support resources, ask the right questions, and stay motivated to complete her degree. During this time, she developed a passion for helping others in similar situations. She began working as a work-study student in the academic advising area and eventually moved to admissions and outreach. Through an outreach program, she began to help more first-generation college students. Her next position led her to Student Support Services and she enjoyed working with TRIO students for over 10 years.
