The UNT First-Generation Success Center has a limited number of first-gen graduation stoles available for Spring and Summer 2025 graduates!

The First Gen Stole application opens at 10:00 AM on Monday, February 3, 2025, and closes at 10:00 AM on Monday, March 10, 2025.

Stoles are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Once registration reaches capacity, a wait list will be available, but stoles will not be guaranteed.

To receive a stole, you MUST be planning to graduate in Spring or Summer 2025 with an undergraduate or graduate-level degree AND complete one of the following engagement activities:


1. Attend Grad School 101 - Graduate School Presentation & Student Panel

  • Interested in attending graduate school? Join us for an afternoon with the UNT Toulouse graduate school to learn more about the application process. You will get the chance to ask a panel of current first-gen graduate students questions about their experience navigating the graduate school admissions and enrollment process.  Pizza will be served, while supplies last!

2. Attend Job Searching & Linked-In Workshop

  • Learn how to level up your LinkedIn and job searching strategies with the UNT Career Center. This workshop will cover basic job searching practices and websites. We'll also talk about how to make your LinkedIn profile stand out from the crowd.

3. Attend First Gen to Full Time - Professionals Panel

  • March 3, 2025
  • 6:00PM - 7:00 PM

  • How do you go about making the transition from being a first-gen student to being a full-time professional? Do you have any specific questions you’d like to ask someone who’s “been there and done that”?  This informal and interactive panel will share their stories and offer advice for the next generation of first-gen grads.

4. Attend Resume Workshop

  • The UNT Career Center will provide expert tips to make your resume stand out from the crowd. Staff will be available to review your resume and give instant feedback – so bring a printed copy or laptop to this event. Don’t have a resume? No problem! We’ll give you a template to get started.

5. Attend Field Trip to Capital One

  • Hop on the van and let's go visit the Capital One Dallas corporate headquarters in Plano! Explore the campus and get an insider's view of corporate life at one of the biggest companies in the US. Listen to a panel of Capital One employees talk about how they navigated the hiring process and what they do on a day-to-day basis.   Learn about savings, budgeting and your financial wellness before we finish with a complimentary beverage at the Capital One cafe. This is a great opportunity to network with Capital One associates!  Limited seats available, registration is required and will open on February 17th at https://linktr.ee/UNTFirstGen. 6. Attend Self Care and Graduation Online Webinar (online)

  • Graduation is filled with excitement but can also be a stressful time. It is important to practice self-care to avoid burning out. The UNT Office of Health Promotions will provide tips to avoid burnout as you approach graduation as well as practical suggestions to manage pre & post-graduation anxiety.

7. Attend Goal Setting & Time Management with Counseling & Testing Services (online)

  • As you approach graduation, it’s essential to set clear goals and develop effective time management strategies to help you succeed in the professional world. In this session, we will discuss practical tips and tools for preparing yourself for life after graduation.

8. 1-on-1 coaching session 

  • If you are unable to attend one of the events listed above, you can schedule and attend a 1-on-1 coaching session with a First-Generation Success Center staff member. Coaching sessions can be scheduled on Navigate or at Appointments.unt.edu and must be completed by Friday, March 7, 2025.

  • Stoles MUST be picked up in-person at the UNT Denton or Frisco campuses between March 17 and April 4th, 2025. We are not able to mail stoles at this time.

    This is a casual, come-and-go celebration for the May 2025 graduates and their friends/family. Stop by the photo booth to take a photo with Scrappy in his graduation cap & gown.     Are you graduating in Fall 2025? If you will be graduating in Fall 2025, the First Gen Graduation Stole application will open in October. As we approach this date, stole application information will be emailed via Navigate and posted on Instagram and our website: firstgen.unt.edu
