The UNT First-Generation Success Center has a limited number of first-gen graduation stoles available for Fall 2024 graduates!
The First-Gen Stole application will open at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, and close at 10:00 AM on Friday, November 8, 2024.
Stoles are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Once registration reaches capacity, a wait list will be available and stoles cannot be guaranteed.
To receive a stole you MUST plan to graduate in December 2024 with an undergraduate or graduate-level degree AND complete at least one of the following engagement activities:
1. Attend Networking 101 Workshop (Online)

Join the First Gen Center and the Career Center to learn valuable tips and tricks for networking as a new graduate or professional. We will talk about how to best prepare before entering a networking situation, how to network online and provide sample conversation topics.
2. Attend Division of Student Affairs Etiquette Dinner
- October 9, 2024
- 5:00PM – 7:30 PM

- This etiquette dinner will provide students with an opportunity to enhance their professional skills while participating in a mocktail hour and multi-course dinner led by a professional etiquette coach. This interactive dinner will provide you with essential business etiquette skills, enhance your communication abilities, and offer a unique oppurtunity to connect with industry leaders. This event is open to all majors and academic years. Business professional attire is required.
- If you are selecting the Etiquette Dinner as your Engagement Activity, you must separately register for the Etiquette Dinner on Handshake here. Space is limited at the Dinner so register ASAP.
3. Attend Career Center Drop-Ins at the Library

- The Career Center will be available to provide on demand resume review, job searching tips, and other career advice. Are you new to the UNT libraries? Check in with one of the friendly librarians to learn all about what the library offers to UNT students and soon to be alumni. This is a casual, come and go event and will feature free pizza on a first come first served basis.
4. Attend Self Care Graduation Workshop (Online)

Graduation is filled with excitement but can also be a stressful time. It is important to practice self-care to avoid burning out. The UNT Office of Health Promotions will provide tips to avoid burnout as you approach graduation as well as practical suggestions to manage pre & post-graduation anxiety.
5. Attend First Voice Generation - A Documentary Film Screening

Join The First-Gen Center and Union Arts for a complimentary screening of First Voice Generation - "a documentary film highlighting the barriers to higher education for three first generation college students in Michigan. Watch as they grapple with virtual learning and other challenges while dreaming of being the first in their family to go to college."
6. If you are unable to attend one of the events listed above, you can schedule and attend a 1-on-1 coaching session with a First-Generation Success Center staff member. Coaching sessions can be scheduled on Navigate or at Appointments.unt.edu and must be completed by November 8, 2024.

- Stoles must be picked up in-person at the UNT Denton or Frisco campuses between November 12 and December 6, 2024. Unfortunately, we are not able to mail stoles at this time.

Are you graduating in 2025?
If you will be graduating in Spring 2025, the First Gen Graduation Stole application will open on February 3, 2025. As we approach this date, stole application information will be emailed via Navigate and posted on Instagram and our website: firstgen.unt.edu
