Are you graduating in Fall 2025? 

The First Gen Graduation Stole Application opens October 1, 2025 at 12:00PM for December 2025 Graduates! 

Stoles are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Once registration reaches capacity, a wait list will be available, but stoles will not be guaranteed.

To receive a stole, you MUST be planning to graduate in December 2025 from UNT Denton or UNT Frisco with an undergraduate or graduate-level degree AND complete one of the following engagement activities: 

Attend First Gen to Grad School Panel with Graduate Admissions

Thursday October 2, 2025 

3:30PM - 4:30PM 

Location: BLB 010 

First Gen to Grad School is a presentation from Graduate Admissions and the First Generation Success Center as part of Exploring Graduate School Week. We will be discussing the pathway to grad school, important deadlines to consider, advice on the application process and more!  

Attend Car Buying 101 (Online Workshop presented by Capital One)

Are you looking to buy a car or other big purchase? Need some financial tips to make it happen? Join leaders from Capital One's Auto Literacy Team to learn insider tips and strategies to help you become an informed car buyer!  During this interactive workshop, you will learn car buying terminology and how to set a realistic budget and savings plan. Covering topics such as budgeting and financing will help ensure you are confident when purchasing a vehicle and other big investments.

The UNT Office of Health Promotions will provide tips to avoid burnout as you approach graduation as well as practical suggestions to manage pre- & post-graduation anxiety. Attend a 1-on-1 Coaching Meeting

If you are unable to attend one of the events listed above, you can schedule and attend a 1-on-1 coaching session with a First Generation Success Center staff member. Coaching sessions can be scheduled on Navigate or at Appointments.unt.edu and must be completed by October 31st, 2025.  Make sure to let the staff member know that you are attending the meeting as a requirement for your stole!

IMPORTANT

Stoles must be picked up in-person at the UNT Denton or Frisco campuses between November 12 and December 12, 2025. We are not able to mail stoles! However, you are allowed to have a friend, classmate, or family member pick up a stole on your behalf. 

After the application deadline has ended, and we have confirmed your completion of an engagement activity, you will receive an additional email stating that you may pick up your stole. Please note: we will not be able to award your stole until we have verified your completion of the engagement activity

This is a casual, come-and-go celebration and will include a delicious ice cream bar. Stop by the photo booth to take a photo with Scrappy in his graduation cap & gown!

Mean Green Gowns for Grads is a program at the Diamond Eagle Resource Center focusing on helping students rent a cap and gown for commencement.
