What are Promise Programs at UNT?

The University of North Texas partners with four Promise Programs to help make college more affordable and accessible for students in our communities. If you're part of a participating Promise Program and meet the eligibility requirements, UNT promises to cover your tuition and mandatory fees for up to four consecutive years. That means you can focus on your education, without the stress of how to pay for it. Our goal is simple: open doors, remove barriers, and help you succeed at UNT and beyond.

Who are Promise Scholars?

Promise Scholars are students who start their journey with one of our partner organizations – Dallas County Promise, Tarrant To & Through, Red River Promise or Texoma Promise – by making the Promise Pledge and meeting program deadlines. From there, the UNT works with each program to identify eligible students who qualify for support, which may include a last-dollar scholarship covering tuition and fees.

Whether or not you receive the last-dollar scholarship, all Promise students are welcomed into our community with access to mentorship, support programs and events designed to help you succeed. Once you make the pledge, you’re part of the family, and we’re with you every step of the way.

How does UNT support Promise Programs Scholars?

Students in the Promise Programs benefit from coordinated services, including mentoring, leadership programming and engagement. At UNT, student success comes first. The Promise Program is a person-centered initiative that pairs students with dedicated team members for check-ins, goal setting, and referrals to campus and community resources.
