Code of Student Conduct

Students or student groups may be disciplined and sanctioned for the misconduct of hazing under the UNT Code of Student Conduct. For more information, please visit the Dean of Students Conduct page at /dean-of-students/conduct.

 


Student Organization Conduct Standing

Student groups are those that are defined as groups registered with the Student Activities Office, or groups who officially represent the university, including, an association, corporation, order, society, corps, club, or student government, a band or musical group or an academic, athletic, cheerleading, or dance team, including any group or team that participates in National Collegiate Athletic Association competition, or a service, social, or similar group, whose members are primarily students. Each student group must abide by the Code of Student Conduct (UNT Policy 07.012) and UNT Hazing Policy (UNT Policy 07.013).  Those found responsible for hazing will be listed below in accordance with Texas Education Code, sections 37.151 (5) and (6).

The Delta Sigma Phi-Gamma Xi chapter in partnership with another Greek-lettered organization will put on a presentation focused on Hazing that will be given to the Sorority and Fraternity community here at the University of North Texas. All members of the organization will be required to participate in the presentation. The presentation must be given by the end of the Spring 2022 term. In accordance with regulations with the Texas Education Code, Section 51.936(c), Delta Sigma Phi- Gamma XI Chapter will be placed on the hazing list at the University of North Texas for 3 years December 13, 2021
Kappa Kappa Gamma-
Zeta Sigma Chapter
Fall 2021 Intentional act of adversely affecting the mental or physical health of others for the purposes of maintaining membership. Section IX-F-2: Acts Affecting Health, Safety or Welfare - Hazing Responsible Conduct Probation: This is a specified period of time from now until January 23, 2023. The Kappa Kappa Gamma, Zeta Sigma chapter in partnership with another Greek-lettered organization will put on a presentation focused on Hazing that will be given to the Sorority and Fraternity community here at the University of North Texas. All members of the organization will be required to participate in the presentation. The presentation must be given by April 15, 2022.
In accordance with regulations with the Texas Education Code, Section 51.936(c), Kappa Kappa Gamma Zeta Sigma Chapter will be placed on the hazing list at the University of North Texas for 3 years.

Alpha Phi Alpha Eta Epsilon Chapter Fall 2021 Hazing (as investigated and sanctioned by Southwestern Region of the National organization) Section 1X-F2- Acts Affecting Health, Safety or Welfare - Hazing Regionals found organization responsible for hazing. UNT is upholding Chapter sanctions and put on Conduct Probation with UNT until August 31, 2025 and outcomes upheld by Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated. February 17, 2022
Sigma Chi, Iota Phi Chapter October 6, 2022 Intentional act for the purposes of pledging; Section 1X-F2- Acts Affecting Health, Safety or Welfare - Hazing Responsible Conduct Probation until April 18,2023. • The Iota Phi Chapter of Sigma Chi is required to plan and execute a Hazing Education Training by December 1, 2022, for the entire Chapter. • In accordance with regulations with the Texas Education Code, Section 51.936(c), Iota Phi Chapter of Sigma Chi will be placed on the hazing website at the University of North Texas for three years. Omega Psi Phi-Phi Gamma October 27, 2022 Physical brutality; Calisthenics, an intentional act for the purposes of pledging & being initiated into a group Section IX-F2- Acts Affecting Health, Safety or Welfare - Hazing Responsible This is a specified period of time from now until December 6, 2024. The Omega Psi Phi-Phi Gamma chapter will put on a presentation focused on Hazing that will be given to the Sorority and Fraternity community here at the University of North Texas. All members of the organization will be required to participate in the presentation. The presentation must be given by the end of the Spring 2023 term. In accordance with regulations with the Texas Education Code, Section 51.936(c), Omega Psi Ph-Phi Gamma Chapter will be placed on the hazing list at the University of North Texas for 3 years December 16, 2022
Phi Gamma Delta, Nu Tau Chapter November 18, 2022 Calisthenics, intentional act for the purposes of pledging & being initiated into a group. Section IX-F2 - Acts Affecting Health, Safety or Welfare - Hazing Responsible Student Group Suspension until January 20th, 2026; In accordance with Section 51.936(c) of the Texas Education Code, this chapter is placed on the list of organizations disciplined for hazing by the University of North Texas for a period of (3) years from the date the disciplinary action takes effect. February 28th, 2023
UNT Football Team Fall 2022 Physical fighting; boxing, intentional act for the purposes on maintaining membership in a student group. Section IX-F2 - Acts Affecting Health, Safety, or Welfare - Hazing Responsible The UNT Football team, staff, and coaches must all receive training and education on hazing by the North Texas Athletics Compliance Office for the next three years. The University Integrity and Compliance Office will monitor the training requirements. In accordance with the Texas Education Code, Section 51.936 (c), North Texas Football team will be placed on the UNT Hazing website for three years from today’s date. April 16th, 2024
  • Texas Education Code, sections 37.151 (5) and (6) requires public institutions to disclose a hazing report that will be continually updated.
  • Student groups will remain on the report for a period of 3 years.
  • Student groups may have been investigated and found responsible for additional violations of the Student Code of Conduct that are not listed on this report because they are not required to be disclosed. Sanctions listed in this report may be reflective of all violations of the Student Code of Conduct, not just the hazing violation.
  • Sanctioning is based on the severity of the behavior and any pattern of behavior the student group may have.
