The Interfraternity Council is the governing body for UNT’s social fraternities. We represent a diverse group of chapters united by shared values: Leadership. Service. Brotherhood. Scholarship.
At UNT, our IFC is home to multiple nationally recognized fraternities, each with its own unique history, values and brotherhood. Whether you're looking for a tight-knit group, leadership opportunities, or a way to give back, there's a chapter that fits.
We believe in creating better men, stronger chapters, and a more connected campus. Our mission is to elevate the values of fraternity life while supporting your academic and personal journey.

IFC Formal Recruitment is the primary way Potential New Members, or PNMs, join the IFC community each year. This process is coordinated by IFC’s Recruitment Team along with the Fraternity and Sorority Life staff. This week-long Formal Recruitment process is structured around a series of events called recruitment rounds. Each recruitment round is designed to provide PNMs the opportunity to interact with our IFC chapters in a formal setting. After visiting each chapter, PNMs and IFC chapters will participate in a mutual selection process to narrow down their options. During the last recruitment round, PNMs will have the opportunity to receive a membership invitation from any number of our IFC chapters and will have the opportunity to accept membership on the last day of recruitment. Throughout this process, each PNM will have a recruitment counselor, or Rho Chi, that will guide, mentor, and lead them through the Formal Recruitment process.
Registration is REQUIRED to participate and early registration is highly encouraged. Registration is $20.00 and opens May 1! Click here to sign up for the formal recruitment experience! This registration fee goes toward reservations, recruitment software, and other supplies needed to conduct recruitment.
Fraternities/Sororities have been self-sufficient since their inception. Members of these groups pay their own way through dues, membership fees and one-time new member or initiation fees. Cost of membership in a Greek-lettered organization varies, depending on the organization and housing options. However, the cost of living in a fraternity or sorority house is generally comparable to living on campus. Students can expect a financial obligation of $450-$900 to join one of these chapters.
