Royalty

Homecoming Royalty is awarded to a student who serves as a role model of and for the University’s student body. The expectation is that they exhibit qualities such as leadership and upstanding character, as well as a commitment to academic and extracurricular success and contributing to or having a positive impact on campus. The student selected as the 2024 Homecoming Royalty should be a positive representation of the University of North Texas student body. The 2024 Royalty Application is now closed!

24th at 11:00pm. 

Meet the Court

Amy Pritchard
Amy Pritchard
Campus Impact Project: Donation to the Center for Leadership and Service.

Amy Pritchard is a 4.0 GPA student-athlete at the University of North Texas, majoring in Kinesiology and minoring in Psychology. This is her fourth year competing as a Division 1 athlete in cross country and track, where she has competed in distances from 1,500 meters to 6,000 meters. She has also served as an officer for the Terry Scholars of North Texas for the past three years. She was the New Scholar Liaison, Service Chair, and is currently the President for the organization. As the President, she creates meeting agendas for general and officer meetings, ensures the organization’s goals are achieved and the foundation’s requirements are maintained, collaborates with the other officers to support them in planning events for the organization, and much more. In addition to being a student-athlete and serving several leadership roles for the TSNT, Amy has spent her summer and winter breaks working as a physical therapy tech and shadowing and volunteering at other physical therapy clinics in the DFW area. She just recently got accepted into a Doctor of Physical Therapy program that starts next year, where she will embark on her journey to become a physical therapist.

Campus Impact Project: Donation to the Voluntary Consent program.

Ashley Hartenstein is a senior pursuing her degree in Public Health with minors in Health Promotion and Human Services, as well as a certificate in Trauma-Informed Care. Most of her time on campus is spent with the Green Brigade Marching Band, where she serves as one of two Student Administrators for Member Engagement, Field Staff, and Member Outreach Chair. This is her fourth year serving with the organization, formerly a member of both the Flute and Baritone sections. Her time within Green Brigade rehearsals and events is typically spent overseeing committees, addressing member concerns, and planning recreational events for members. She also currently serves as the President of the student organization Public Health Alliance, after working closely with mentor Dr. Naomi Meier in reestablishing a public health-focused organization on campus. While she is unsure of what lies beyond graduation, her favorite areas of public health are women’s health and addressing chronic health issues in young adults. Ashley was born and raised in Round Rock, Texas, and in her free time enjoys writing, consuming horror content, and exploring with her friends.

Campus Impact Project: Pop-up clothing swap to reduce clothing waste, support sustainability, and donate leftovers.

Delaney is an engaged student leader at the University of North Texas, showcasing her belief that anyone can achieve their goals. As the Panhellenic Delegate for Kappa Delta, she oversees external activities for her organization, further demonstrating her leadership skills. Her role has allowed her to build connections across campus and represent her organization on a broader scale, emphasizing her commitment to service and collaboration. When she’s not focused on academics or extracurriculars, Delaney serves the university as an Eagle Ambassador, leading over 100 campus tours. Her deep love for UNT and Mean Green spirit inspires her to bring that passion into her candidacy for Homecoming Royalty. Delaney is eager to connect with the UNT community in new and meaningful ways through this opportunity.

Campus Impact Project: North Texas Day of Hope will be an event that connects students with mental health resources in the Denton community.

Ethan Gillis is a senior advertising major at UNT. A third generation legacy student and Golden Eagle Award winner, Ethan has a strong affinity towards his institution. Since moving to Denton in 2020, he has become heavily involved on campus, working as an Eagle Ambassador, serving as a Senator and Executive in the Student Government Association, and being the Membership Chair for the North Texas 40. Ethan also serves as the Student Regent for the UNT System and sits on the Denton Historic Landmark Commission. Ethan hopes to work in the field of higher education and plans to pursue his Master’s degree upon graduating next Spring. Ethan represents the Student Alumni Association, a group he has been a member of since Fall of 2021. He served as the group’s Director for two years, restructuring the association and putting an emphasis on student programming. A two-time member of the UNT Homecoming Crew, Ethan is excited to represent his organization as a nominee for Homecoming Royalty.

Campus Impact Project: The Tent Rental Initiative provides student organizations with rentable tents for outdoor events, boosting engagement.

Jennifer Estrada is a senior majoring in Hospitality Management with a minor in Sociology. As a first-generation student, Jennifer is known for her passion for campus involvement and community service. She currently serves as the president of both Kappa Delta Chi Sorority, Inc. and the National Society of Minorities in Hospitality. During her time at UNT, Jennifer has embraced various leadership roles and participation across multiple organizations, including the Latinx Hispanic Student Union, Folklorico, Eta Sigma Delta International Hospitality and Tourism Management Honor Society, CMHT Executive Student Council, CMHT Leadership Academy, and the North Texas Forty Student Foundation. She has also mentored students through the Latinx Student Experience, worked as a Facilities Assistant for Housing, and served as both an Orientation Leader and a First-Year Experience Leader for the Orientation and Transition Office. Her commitment to fostering a supportive campus community is reflected in her dedication to mentoring and guiding students. Jennifer's involvement extends across various leadership positions and continually strives to create a welcoming environment for all. Jennifer is a proud UNT student, eager to represent her school's spirit, inspire others to get involved and serve in a positive role for the entire campus.

Campus Impact Project: abUndaNT ambience project with pop-up shops, resources, and free school supplies.

Sandra Nwankwo is currently a senior at the University of North Texas who majors in Psychology on the Pre-Physician Assistant track in hopes of becoming a Pediatric Physician Assistant to aid in the good health of children & adolescents. While at UNT, she has found a passion in helping students transition smoothly into their college experiences serving as a mentor and her unforgettable experiences as an orientation leader! From showing her Mean Green pride throughout her various campus involvements and leadership positions, her personality never fails to shine through. Sandra has a creative eye in everything that she does and always finds a great joy participating in any activities that allow her creativity to shine through whether it’s from drawing, dancing, editing pictures, styling all her outfits and creating fun hairstyles to match every time!

Campus Impact Project: Sexual Health Awareness Day with engaging workshops, resources, and open discussions on consent and STI prevention.

Sarah Robertson is a motivated and empathetic student pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Public Health with minors in Biology and Chemistry at the University of North Texas. Sarah is recognized on the President's List for academic excellence and is dedicated to public service and leadership. Sarah has found her passion for helping and advocating for people through the Student Government Association. She previously served as the Student Body Vice President for UNT’s Student Government Association (SGA), where she led the Student Senate as the Speaker and liaised between the student body and the University administration. Her leadership extends to her role as a Resident Assistant for UNT Housing and Residence Life, where she fosters community development and ensures a safe, inclusive environment for students. Sarah also brings experience in youth engagement, having served as a Golf Instructor for the First Tee of Greater Austin, where she taught children the sport and core life values. Sarah’s passion for serving her community is further reflected in her involvement with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, and her North Texas Forty Student Foundation membership. Her diverse experiences, from student government to mentoring youth, demonstrate her dedication to uplifting others and advocating for student needs.

Shianne Garrett

Campus Impact Project: Donation to the Center for Belonging and Engagement to support a safe space program for all students.

Born and raised in Arlington, TX, Shianne is a Senior who is a Criminal Justice major. Shianne likes to say she ‘bleeds green’ as her love for UNT and its community is very strong. Her mean green spirit and passion for student advocacy has led her to become very involved in leadership positions and campus organizations. Shianne has been a Resident Assistant at Rawlins Hall for 3 years, a Staff Supervisor at the Rec Center, and was previously an orientation leader. She currently is President of the Criminal Justice Honor Society (Alpha Phi Sigma). Post graduation Shianne plans to attend law school and become a criminal defense attorney. Shianne has strong passions for mental health and criminal justice reform, specifically within the prison system and hope to make changes in the future regarding rehabilitation and recidivism.

Campus Impact Project: Promote free feminine products by hosting a campus-wide drive and donating to campus partners.

Sydney St. Clair is a Junior Accounting student who is striving to pursue a career in the law field. Upon graduating UNT, she plans to attend law school in order to study Family Law and assist with adoptions. Her ability to work hard has allowed her to maintain her membership in the Accounting Scholars Program. She enjoys working with children, using her creative talents, and watching her many plants grow and flourish. As a member of Talons, she helps to oversee the Service Committee in order to continue her passion for helping those in her community. She enjoys spreading UNT spirit and traditions and looks forward to representing UNT with pride.

Trois Murphy

Campus Impact Project: Donation to the First-Generation Success Center.

Trois is a very active senior on the UNT campus studying converged broadcasting. She has been involved in many organizations throughout her time on campus. She has been involved with the Black Student Union for three years and currently serves as the organization's president. She is a member and secretary for the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorortiy Inc Epsilon Mu chapter. She is also a lead director and previous on-air talent for the campus broadcasting program, North Texas Television. She has also served as the BSU director of programming and marketing committee member and previously as the Professional Women's Council secretary. She enjoys being around her sorority sisters, friends, and family and traveling to new places in her free time.

Requirements

Ten students will be selected to represent the University on the Homecoming Court. In order to be eligible to apply for Homecoming Court, a student must: 

  • Be nominated by a registered student organization or University-Sponsored Student Group (e.g., 
    North Texas Dancers, Intercollegiate Athletic Team, Eagle Ambassadors)
    • Organizations/groups may only nominate one candidate
    • The nominee must be a current member of the organization/group
  •  For Graduate Students:
    • Must have earned 18 UNT credit hours at the time of application
    • Must have at least a 3.0 cumulative UNT GPA
  • For Undergraduate Students:
    • Must have earned 30 UNT credit hours at the time of application
    • Must be classified as a Junior or above
    • Must have at least a 2.75 cumulative UNT GPA
    • Must be a full-time student, unless graduating in December 2024
  • Must be currently enrolled
  • Must be in good conduct standing with the University
  • Must not have been on the Homecoming Court in previous years
  • Must not be on the 2024 Homecoming Crew

Recognition

One of the goals of the Homecoming Crew was to increase the prestige of the position and recognition for the student deserving of the honor. As such, Student Activities has committed to recognizing Royalty in the following ways:

  • $200 co-sponsorship for each Court member’s student organization
  • $1,000 one-time funding towards a campus-impact project or activity, approved by appropriate campus entities, that Royalty will help coordinate
  • Brick with Royalty's name installed at the Alumni Pavilion near DATCU Stadium 
  • Digital media campaign promoting Royalty 
  • Opportunity to represent the University at speaking engagements
