Spearheaded in spring 2021 through a planning collaboration between the UNT Grounds team
and UNT students advocating for more pollinator sanctuaries on campus, this We Mean Green Fund project will upgrade a perennial garden to the west of the Hurley Administration
Building. With the guidance of student leadership, this garden will incorporate new
irrigation, plants, and educational signage about the importance of pollinators and
the benefits of creating pollinator-friendly landscapes.
Upon completing this project, the UNT community will experience the natural beauty
of the planted perennials while learning why pollinators are valued and essential
to community wellbeing. Given its location between Hurley and the outdoor Starbucks,
students will connect with this project regularly in between classes. This project
supports the mission of UNT's Bee Campus USA status. Keep an eye out for this perennial garden during the 2022- 2023 academic
year!
