In part, the UNT Community Garden is kept alive and blooming by pollinator visitors that play a role in helping fruits and vegetables grow. Despite these pollinating species' critical role in gardening, many people are unaware of who they are and what they do. This student-led We Mean Green Fund project was proposed in 2020 by student artist and avid gardener Thomas Strimpel who digitally rendered a mural for the community garden shed to celebrate native pollinator species of North Texas and bring awareness to how much we rely on them. Learn more about pollinators and why we should protect them.

This educational initiative supports UNT's Bee Campus USA status. The pollinator mural will be supplemented with additional informational signs designed by Thomas and placed in the native plant beds around the garden. Be sure to stop by and check out the new informative material in the Community Garden in the 2021-2022 academic year!
