Family Weekend

Family Weekend 2015 - September 18-20, 2015

Family Weekend is the first big event of the year for students and their families. A variety of activities make Family Weekend a special time for students to share their new environment with friends, parents, and family members.

Whether you live near or far, we want you to join your UNT family for a weekend of fun! This three-day event will be packed with numerous activities, meals, and the opportunity to cheer on the Mean Green football team as they take on Rice University. There's something for everyone!

What is the price of Family Weekend?

  • $60.00 for each adult
  • $30.00 for each child (17 and under)
  • FREE* for 1 UNT student (each additional student is $25.00)
  • FREE for children under 4

*FREE with the purchase of one or more adult passes.

Parent Association members and alumni have the ability to receive discounts.

What does the cost of registration cover?

  • Friday evening's dinner (Scrappy's Extravaganza)
  • Saturday's President's Breakfast
  • Mean Green Extravaganza (tailgate) activities and food
  • Family Weekend T-Shirt
  • Evening activities
  • Entrance to other Family Weekend events without special charges
  • UNT vs. Rice University football ticket (tickets will be provided to all registrants except current UNT students - current students get in free with student ID)

Tuition Draw

Each ticket bought for the tuition draw is an opportunity to win a free semester's worth of tuition, valued at $4,200.  You can purchase tuition draw tickets for $5/ticket or $20/5 tickets prior to Family Weekend or on-site (at Family Weekend Registration) up until the football game's kickoff on Saturday.

Individuals who purchase tuition draw tickets at orientation will be included in the tuition draw.

The winners will be announced at half-time during the football game.

You do not have to be present to win.


Family Weekend T-Shirt Contest

Enter the 2015 Family Weekend T-Shirt Design Contest!  Design a T-Shirt.  Win a $250 Scholarship.

The office of Orientation and Transition Programs is excited to announce the 2015 Family Weekend T-shirt Contest!  This T-shirt Contest is your chance to earn a $250 scholarship and see your design worn by more than 1,500 of your UNT family and friends!

Show off your creative talent and design a shirt that illustrates family, fun, and friends!  Between now and Wednesday, September 2 at noon submissions should be emailed to

The winning design will be selected by the Family Weekend committee.  The winner will receive a $250 scholarship for the fall 2015 semester, and their design will be featured on the official Family Weekend t-shirt and other promotional materials.

Friday - Family Weekend participants are encouraged to park in the R-lot outside Victory Hall for Friday's activities.  Handicapped parking will be available in the Victory Hall parking lot.

Saturday - Parking is available on main campus all day Saturday, except in reserved or metered parking.  Due to the limited number of spaces on game days, Family Weekend participants are encouraged to park in the Highland Street Parking Garage throughout the day for $10 per car.  In addition, the Fouts Field lot will be available for a fee.  Family Weekend participants are encouraged to walk on the pedestrian bridge to the tailgate area.  Handicapped parking will be available in the Fouts Field Lot with handicapped shuttles running to and from Apogee Stadium.

Sibling Weekend

Join us for the 4th annual Sibling Weekend in the spring of 2016! Date and program information will be available this fall.

Be a part of this exciting tradition at UNT! Sibling Weekend is an event for UNT students and their siblings to attend activities hosted by the university, together! Our schedule includes meals, entertainment, spirit, and traditions!

How much does it cost?

  • $45 per Sibling participant
  • FREE for the UNT Student*

*with registration of at least 1 Sibling participant

What does the cost of registration cover?

  • Meals
  • Event t-shirt
  • Activities
  • Entrance into the North Texas vs. East Carolina Men's Basketball game

Participants under the age of 18 are required to have a Permission to Treat Form submitted to the office of Orientation and Transition Programs. In addition, all participants are required to complete a waiver prior to participating in events hosted by Recreational Sports.

T-shirt Design Contest

The office of Orientation and Transition Programs is excited to announce a scholarship opportunity! Submit a design for the Sibling Weekend t-shirt contest for your chance at a $250 scholarship. The winning designer will receive the scholarship and complimentary event t-shirts.

Contest Rules and Regulations:

  • Design must include the phrase "Sibling Weekend 2016"
  • Design must reflect UNT pride
  • Design must be limited to 2 colors and arranged for a one-sided print (front of t-shirt only)
  • Design must be appropriate for both children and adults
  • Design must be created using digital software/media; no hand-written or hand-drawn art will be accepted for submission
  • Design must be submitted electronically to
  • Submissions must include student name and ID number in the email
  • Participants must be enrolled at UNT for the spring 2016 semester
  • Participants may submit multiple entries
