Class of 2024, Political Science
"I love the sense of belonging at UNT, that has ultimately been my favorite thing about the university. I also love the fact that our professors truly care, and they are always listening when we ask."
What attracted you to UNT?

"UNT was not my top choice, I had the opportunity to spend a couple summers at the campus for Different Leadership Campus. To be completely honest I was attracted by the diversity of the institution. I knew I wasn’t to be far from home and also not too close to home."

What student organizations, programs, activities are you involved in?

"The Black Student Union Intern Program was where it all began. That same semester I also interned with SGA. Also, I knew I wanted to be part of SGA from high school and had been following them through my journey in STUCO. From there I took on different roles. I served as an ambassador for the African student Organization and I served on the Programming committee for the Black Student Union.  I also served on the Executive board for the East African student Organization."

How has being involved helped you develop valuable skills that extend beyond the classroom?

"Participating in leadership roles within student organizations has equipped me with valuable skills that extend beyond traditional classroom learning. A significant aspect of this growth has been the ability to collaborate with peers beyond the academic setting. Through roles such as the Student Government Association (SGA) president, I've not only learned to work effectively with fellow students but have also developed a diverse network that includes students, faculty and professionals. Networking, a skill intertwined with leadership, is not merely about forming connections; it involves cultivating meaningful relationships that offer personal and professional benefits."

What advice would you give a student who is looking to make the most out of their college experience?

"The most advice I would give is that you need to be open-minded and be willing to always be in the extra mile to get where you want. You have to be someone that is not ashamed to ask for help at any time."

What do you like most about UNT?

"I love the sense of belonging at UNT, that has ultimately been my favorite thing about the university. I also love the fact that our professors truly care, and they are always listening when we ask."

If you could recommend students attend one campus activity or event, what would it be and why?

"I would recommend a student to really look into UPC because personally I think they throw the best events. I would also just recommend a student to look at Orgsyc because we have so many programs available to the students."

Fun fact about you?

"I am from Fort Worth, TX. I come from a family of 8th children. I love to cook during my free time. I also love to study Pan-Africanism and African History."

What are your plans after graduating from UNT?

"I plan to go right to graduate school and further my education in political science with a concentration in public policy. After my master's program, I hope to go into higher education and get my law degree, hopefully at Texas A&M School of Law or UT Austin School of Law."
