Emily Beck

Class of 2019, Hospitality Management
"It is not easy, no doubt, but taking the leap to apply for an organization at a school I didn't know anyone at has really paid off. Everyone at UNT has welcomed me with open arms and done everything they can to help me prosper. I'm forever thankful for that."
What attracted you to UNT?

"I came to UNT as a transfer student, and I was attracted to the Hospitality program and the organizational involvement. Many of my friends from high school attend here, and I was seeing all the fun things they were involved in and knew it was the place for me."

How have you gotten involved on campus?

"I am currently the president of University Program Council, and I also have served as an art coordinator and a member. I also am serving as this year's Homecoming Parade coordinator. What I've loved about being involved on campus is the people I have met, and the impact we have made together. It is so cool as students to be able to work together to come up with fun ideas to share with other students and see them come to life, as well as enjoy the look on the students' faces. The friendships and bonds I have made will last way past graduation."

What advice would you give to a student who is looking to get involved on campus and make the most of his/her time at UNT?

"My biggest recommendation would be to take the leap of faith. It is not easy, no doubt, but taking the leap to apply for an organization at a school I didn't know anyone at has really paid off. Everyone at UNT has welcomed me with open arms and done everything they can to help me prosper. I'm forever thankful for that."
