Title & Department: Career Development Specialist for the Career Center
"I work as a Career Development supporting the College of Health and Public Service as well as the College of Liberal Arts & Social Science. I also work to support the Pre-Law program here at UNT. In my role I assist students with career and professional development. I work with students to create or revamp their resumes, develop networking strategies as well as finding internships and ultimately fulfilling careers. I've also had the opportunity to be an adjunct instructor, where I teach career development."
How do you work with students? --- "I work with students in various ways. I hold group appointments where we discuss aspects of career development such as resumes. I also hold individual appointments where I can connect with students and assist them in finding a career that aligns with their values, interests, personality and skills. I also assist with coordinating student programs based on career development."
How does your department work with students? --- "Our department works with students through individual appointments, group appointments, and programs."
What is your favorite part about working at UNT? --- "My favorite part about working at UNT is definitely being able to work on a team with amazing individuals who are just as passionate about their work as I am about mine. Our team is extremely collaborative and personable, which makes the workdays fly by."
What does Student Affairs mean to you? --- "To me, student affairs is the bridge where theoretical knowledge learned in the classroom can be translated to practical applications. Student affairs provides student support that allows students to get the most out of their college experience both inside and outside of the classroom."
How have UNT students impacted your life? --- "UNT students have had a great impact on my life. I consider it a privilege to be able to work with students from such diverse backgrounds. This diverse student population exemplifies the fact that we all have a unique story and unique goals. The more I engage with UNT students I learn even more about their resiliency and focus."
Fun fact about you? --- "I love my plants!"
