Marilyn Parrish

What does your role entail/what do you do: In her newest role as Assistant Director of Training for Faculty and Staff, Marilyn is excited to provide and coordinate training and presentations for UNT faculty or staff on a variety of mental health topics (such as Assisting Students in Distress, Suicide Prevention, Stress Management, Depression and Anxiety, Test Anxiety, Healthy Relationships, Burnout Prevention, or individualized topics). Also, beginning in Fall 2022, she will be offering consultation times to drop into the Faculty Lounge to chat about questions or concerns faculty and staff may have about the above topics.

What are you proud to share with others at UNT: Not only do I work with college students at UNT, my husband and I are the proud parents of four amazing young adults, ages 20-29.

What is your favorite part about working at UNT: I love working at UNT and with my coworkers at Counseling and Testing Services. My favorite part is meeting and learning from the students and staff from such varied and rich backgrounds and experience.

How have UNT students impacted your life: It is an honor to offer a healing space for UNT students as a counselor. I am humbled daily to receive their trust and witness their resilience and progress. Our UNT students are truly amazing!

Fun fact about you: I love palm trees, the ocean, and turtles! My favorite memory is swimming with sea turtles on the North Shore of Oahu.
