Brenda Sweeten, LCSW is a Clinical Associate Professor in the University of North Texas Department of Social Work and serves as UNT's Foster Care Liaison Officer. Brenda earned a MSSW from the University of Texas at Austin and a BSW from Baylor University. Brenda has 24 years of practice experience in the child welfare and judicial system serving child and families. Brenda is very engaged in the local and statewide community serving on a number of boards and advisory councils including Education Reach for Texans, a non-profit that brings together higher education and child welfare professionals from across Texas to share ideas, generate original research, policy and practice recommendations. Brenda, along with a group of amazing foster care alumni students at UNT founded Persevere UNTil Success Happens, or PUSH, in 2012. In her free time, Brenda enjoys watching her daughter play club volleyball, going to the movies, and spending family time with her husband, two children, and their dachshunds.
