Student with disabilities may need accommodations when taking standardized exams (graduate and professional program admission exams, licensing and certification exams). Be aware that the request process and documentation requirements are established by the testing agency administering the exam and can vary.
Requesting Standardized Exam Accommodations:
Each exam agency will have specific information about overall registration, deadlines, acceptable documentation, and the process for requesting disability accommodations. Plan to begin the process at least 3 months in advance of when you would like/need to take the exam. A testing agency's review process could take 6 to 8 weeks. In support of your request, the University of North Texas Office of Disability Access can:
- Provide a letter verifying the period of time you have been registered with our office and the testing accommodations you have received during your time as a student.
- Provide the student a copy of the supporting disability documentation submitted to our office.
- Complete forms required by the testing agency to verify prior testing accommodations.
Note: ODA staff may not be able to complete or sign off on some verification forms if the supporting documentation on file does not meet the agency's requirements/guidelines.
While not an accommodation through the ODA, Students should submit a request for a verification letter or appropriate verification form by completing an Additional Accommodation Request in AIM. This will assist ODA staff in tracking your request to completion.
Please allow at least 3 business days for the request to be processed.
