What is Travel Grant ?

The Graduate Student Travel Grant is a competitive funding opportunity designed to support graduate students in attending conferences. This includes presenting research, showcasing creative work, or gaining professional exposure through academic events.
The grant aims to enhance students’ academic and professional development by providing financial assistance for travel-related expenses.

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the travel grant, students must:

  • Be currently enrolled graduate students in good academic standing

  • Maintain good conduct throughout the process

  • Be attending a conference (presentation preferred for higher funding)

  • Have research or creative work accepted (or pending acceptance) for presentation

  • Submit two departmental recommendations

Funding Levels:

  • Up to $250 → Attending a conference

  • Up to $500 → Presenting research/creative work

Funding & Reimbursement
  • Maximum funding: $500 per academic year (one conference only)

  • Funding is reimbursement-based

  • Students must submit receipts within 10 business days after the conference

  • Late submissions may result in loss of funding

💡 Note: Students may explore a 0% interest loan option for upfront expenses.

Requirements

Applicants must present to the committee, covering:

  • Conference details and activities

  • Benefits to the student and university

  • Detailed travel budget and expenses

Deadlines & Evaluation Periods
  • Fall Semester Deadline: March 31

  • Spring Semester Deadline: October 31

Additional notes:

  • Applications may be considered on a rolling basis (if funds remain)

  • Must apply at least 2–8 weeks before travel

  1. Complete the full application before the deadline

  2. Submit required documents, including recommendations

  3. Attend a presentation/interview with the Travel Grant Committee

  4. Wait for approval notification
