Finding Your Career Path

High School Career Connect provides career advice, postsecondary planning, and workforce trends to help students establish a path to postsecondary education and a successful career.

Primarily through one‑on‑one peer mentors, HSCC maps the primary high school‑to‑career paths: jobs, certificates, and college degrees. HSCC then helps formulate career strategies based on a student's skills and interests. As a result, students possess individualized career paths for postsecondary education, helping them graduate with enhanced skillsets and increased employment potential.

Schedule

Whether your campus is doing in-person or remote schooling, High School Career Connect is available to support students in their college and career research and planning. HSCC Mentors

At the core of HSCC is peer-to-peer mentorship.

HSCC's mentors are UNT students. Having recently gone through the college-admission process, they understand HSCC's target audience. The mentors undergo extensive training from HSCC's full-time staff, who have graduate-level degrees, mostly in educational counseling.

HSCC's professional counselors oversee all aspects of the program, while the UNT student mentors facilitate career guidance. Mentors represent:

  • UNT's degree programs, ensuring exposure to many disciplines
  • UNT's diversity, as nearly fifty percent of our students identify as minorities

Our mentors are personify postsecondary access and persistence. Mentors are also prepared to discuss admissions and financial aid concerns, enabling them to assist participants in overcoming college access barriers.
