The Division of Student Affairs (DSA) Assessment Team has been honored with the Outstanding Early Career Professionals award from the ACPA Commission for Assessment and Evaluation for their contributions to student success through innovative, data-focused practices.
"We could not have achieved this award without the trust and engagement of our colleagues," explained Sheila Bustillos, director of student services assessment. “Change is challenging, but the division embraced it with curiosity and enthusiasm. Our success is a direct result of their cooperation and willingness to focus on outcomes.”
The ACPA award highlights the team’s dedication to improving student services by leveraging data to make informed decisions that directly impact student improvement. Bustillos and her team implemented departmental logic models to help tailor programs and learning outcomes toward university and divisional strategic goals. Through the outcomes-oriented approach, the DSA Assessment Team has helped strengthen the division’s initiatives, ensuring they are directly aligned with the goal of enhancing student success.
As student experiences become increasingly shaped by insights, the efforts of the DSA Assessment Team serve as a powerful reminder of the importance of collaboration, intentionality, and a shared commitment to students thriving during college and beyond.
