The UNT Coliseum, known as “The Super Pit” and home to the North Texas Men’s and Women’s basketball teams, is undergoing a $6.5 million renovation that is sure to delight fans.
Sequence 1 of the renovation, which began in June, is nearly complete and consists of: renovated restrooms, additional men’s and women’s restrooms on the west concourse, two individual restrooms, new lighting, ADA-compliant ramps, walk-up ticket windows on the west side and two renovated concession stands.
Sequences 2 and 3 are expected to be completed by May and will consist of new offices and conference rooms for the Coliseum Administration and Basketball Administration, walk-up ticket windows on the east side, two renovated concession stands, digital menu boards for all four of the concession stands, a new video wall, polished floors, decorative graphics and green accent lighting.
In a separate project, new handrails were installed in the arena seating area during the summer.
Built in 1973, the Coliseum is designed for multipurpose use and has excellent viewing sight lines from any seat in the arena, making it an ideal venue. Each year, the Coliseum hosts a variety of UNT events, as well as cheer and dance competitions and high school graduations.
