UNT Dining Services continues to expand its services to the UNT community and be recognized for providing excellent food. Here are a few recent accomplishments:
Dining Services is launching a food truck on campus for a trial run Oct. 12. The food truck, Croissini, will offer the UNT community a variety of croissant sandwiches pressed like panini sandwiches.
- UNT received an A+ rating and Dean’s List status for the fifth straight year on the Vegan Report Card by peta2. Criteria includes offering at least one vegan entrée at every meal, including a vegan member on the student advisory board and having an all-vegan dining facility, among others.
- UNT was ranked No. 2 in Delish's Best College Dining Halls list, "The 30 Colleges With The Best Campus Food You've Ever Seen."
The buffet at Mean Greens Cafe, UNT's vegan dining hall, was named Dallas dish of the week by CultureMap and was called "the best vegan dining experience in North Texas." Mean Greens Cafe also was featured on CBS 11 News, and two of its dishes, the tortilla salad with chimichurri seitan skewer and jambalaya patty, were featured in the Food Management article "Building a healthy menu from scratch."
- UNT Dining Services Chef Sarah Kettelhut won a silver medal at the NACUFS National Culinary Challenge
in Providence, Rhode Island. She won first
place at the Southern Regional Challenge in March to earn her spot. She was one of six competitors at Nationals and the only female.
UNT Dining Services is the largest self-supported food service department in North Texas. With 22 retail food shops, five cafeterias, a full-service restaurant and a catering department, the department serves nearly five million meals annually.
