The UNT Division of Student Affairs welcomed Dr. Jane Goodall to campus on April 9 as part of the Distinguished Lecture Series.

Equipped with little more than a notebook, binoculars, and her fascination with wildlife, Goodall braved a realm of unknowns to give the world a remarkable window into humankind’s closest living relatives. Through more than 50 years of groundbreaking work, she has not only shown us the urgent need to protect chimpanzees from extinction; she has also redefined species conservation to include the needs of local people and the environment. Today she travels the world, speaking about the threats facing chimpanzees and environmental crises, urging each of us to take action on behalf of all living things and planet we share.

The Distinguished Lecture Series, which is funded 100% by student service fees, brings noted speakers to campus each year to provide the UNT community with different perspectives and topics of thought. From businessmen and scientists to political figures and celebrities, each event is unique and designed to inform and entertain.
