The Division of Student Affairs Greek Life department has changed its name to The Center for Fraternity and Sorority Life (CFSL) to reflect the changing landscape of the work it does.
"The spirit of this name change is parallel with the shift of utilizing the phrase “Fraternity and Sorority Life” to describe an all-encompassing experience, which includes those groups who do not utilize Greek letters in the name of their organization," said Zach Shirley, director of CFSL. This also will make us current with the growing number fraternity/sorority advising departments at various institutions who are rebranding their office names and values with more modern nomenclature."
Shirley said that the ever evolving landscape of the work his department undertakes as fraternity/sorority advisors, as well as a need to better align within its professional umbrella, the Association for Fraternity/Sorority Advisors played a part in the new moniker too.
He added that the process of updating marketing materials and the website is underway.
"We are excited to continue our important work and share it with the UNT community," he said.
