Philanthropy has always been a core value of UNT Greek Life, and during the fall semester, members raised money through two of their events for those affected by Hurricane Harvey.

Greek Life MGC ShowcaseThe Multicultural Greek Council executive board hosted MGC Week, which ended with the MGC Showcase. The MGC board used the showcase as an opportunity to help aid those in need. The nearly 500 person event almost completely sold out to UNT students, alumni, faculty and guests. Due to the great turn out for the event and ticket sales, the MGC raised $500 for hurricane relief thanks to an extra donation from the council itself since part of MGC’s purpose is to serve others.

UNT Panhellenic Primary RecruitmentThe 2017 Panhellenic primary recruitment not only resulted in women accepting bids to one of the eight chapters on campus, but also served as an opportunity to help others. During the week of recruitment, a friendly competition was held to raise money for Panhellenic’s philanthropy Circle of Sisterhood. The members decided to donate funds raised to Houston to help Hurricane Harvey victims. At the end of the week, $750 was raised, with Pi Beta Phi as the highest donor.
