Research shows that over half of sexual assaults on college campuses occur between the start of the fall semester and Thanksgiving break, a timeframe known as the Red Zone. The University of North Texas (UNT) is dedicated to creating a safe and supportive environment for all students during this critical period. The Dean of Students Office encourages everyone to join us in transforming the Red Zone into a time focused on intentional support for survivors and educational initiatives throughout the campus.
To foster awareness and engagement, the UNT community is invited to visit the “Message of Support” display located on the first floor of Willis Library, available until Nov. 27, 2024. This display serves as a reminder of our collective commitment to support survivors and promote campus safety.
Throughout the semester, Dean of Students will host a series of events aimed at Reclaiming the Red. These events will provide valuable resources, raise awareness about sexual assault prevention, and encourage open discussions about consent and support. Together, we can work towards a safer campus for everyone. Let’s unite in our efforts to support survivors and create an environment where all students feel valued and protected.
