UNT celebrated National Student Employment Week April 9 – 13 with a series of events aimed to show student employees just how much their hard work is appreciated. UNT employs more than 5,000 students each semester through the Career Center, and their contributions are vital to the functions of the university.

“Student employees provide insight, student buy-in, peer influence, energy and quality work to the departments of the university,” said Travis Hicks, assistant director for student employment. “Their impact is far reaching and highly appreciated. National Student Employment Week provides a glimpse into some of the ways that student employment impacts this campus.”

For National Student Employment Week, departments were encouraged to spotlight their student employees on social media; make huge thank you notes in their offices; give small treats to their student employees; give student employees fun awards for the office; and host fun celebrations. Student employees also were invited to the Career Center and the Center for Student Affairs at Discovery Park for popcorn and a movie, and the Career Center hosted an information session on How to Find an On-Campus Job.
