UNT Recreational Sports helped kick off First Flight week with a bang on Aug. 20 by hosting the Rec Sports Extravaganza at the Pohl Recreation Center. A record number of nearly 2,000 students, faculty, staff and family members attended the two-and-a-half-hour event where they learned more about the Rec Center’s extensive programs while enjoying free t-shirts, pizza, drinks and live music from UNT alumnus Triston Coomes.
The annual event also offered a variety of free programs for attendees, including climbing, group exercise, a No Limit Texas Hold ‘Em tournament and a Sport Club resource fair.
Rec Sports is located in the state-of-the-art 138,000 square-foot Pohl Recreation Center and offers an incredible array of programs and experiences to support and inspire the wellness of the UNT community. Members have access to a spectacular 14,500 sq. ft. weight room with more than 100 pieces of cardio equipment, along with a variety of free weights and weight machines, personal trainers, fitness classes, aquatics and outdoor pursuits. Students also can participate in intramural sports, sport clubs and esports.
