Membership in a fraternity or sorority not only creates opportunities for community, leadership, service and academic excellence, it opens doors for a student’s future. Several Sigma Chi undergraduates at the University of North Texas recently had the opportunity to attend the annual Kuehne Speaker Series, where former Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy inspired the crowd with lessons on resilience, hard work, and the value of building common ground.

The UNT Kuehne Speaker Series was established in 2013 to bring prominent speakers to the North Texas region, create meaningful networking opportunities and support outstanding students at the University of North Texas. The students’ experience was made possible through sponsorship by the chapter's educational foundation, bringing students up close with insights from one of the nation’s influential leaders.

Proceeds benefit the Kuehne Speaker Series Scholarship Program, which awards one of the largest donor-funded scholarships at UNT.

In addition to lessons learned from McCarthy, the Sigma Chi brothers networked with executives from other series' sponsors, including Ryan Energy, Toyota of North America, Plains Capital Bank, and the Frisco Economic Development Corporation - to name a few. They also heard from fellow UNT students currently Kuehne Scholars, recipients of the Kuehne Speaker Series Scholarship Program, one of the largest donor-funded scholarships at UNT.  and
