Health Matters @ UNT | Staying Safe During the Holiday Season

Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Bodhi Day or another special day; the holidays are quickly approaching! We’ll be discussing staying safe during this holiday season. Staying safe during this holiday season is more important than ever given the current pandemic that we’re living through. Celebrating the holidays this year will be different than previous years. If possible, you should spend the holidays with those that are in your household in order to help reduce the spread of Covid-19.

According to the CDC, you can make the holidays safer by:
  • Wearing a mask
  • Staying 6 feet away from others who don’t live with you
  • Washing your hands or using hand sanitizer

If you’re attending a holiday gathering:
  • Bring your own food, plates, and cutlery
  • Wear a mask when not eating or drinking
  • Have the meal outside with a limited number of people
The holiday season can be difficult time for many people, especially during a pandemic. If you or someone you know needs support, call SAMHSA’s National Helpline, 1-800-662-HELP (4357).
