Student Veteran Services at University of North Texas has two more reasons to be proud – two Military Friendly® designations as a Military Friendly® School and Military Spouse Friendly School.
Of the more than 1,800 colleges and universities that participated in the 2023-2024 Military Friendly® survey, UNT was among 250 selected as a “Gold” award status for leading practices, outcomes, and effective programs. It was the university’s first year for recognition as a Military Spouse Friendly School.
UNT’s Student Veteran Services department offers a variety of programs and services to support student veterans and create a seamless transition from military life to civilian college life. The department provides student veterans and dependents connections to resources both on and off campus and gives recognition to the service members in our UNT community through programs and scholarships.
Institutions earning the Military Friendly® Schools Awards designation were evaluated using public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey. Criteria toward earning the designation include outcome data such as degree transfer, advancement, graduation and/or job placement. Colleges submit information deemed critical in helping veterans thrive on campus—and later in the workplace, including academic policies & compliance, admissions & orientation, culture & commitment, financial aid & loan repayment, graduation & career outcomes, and military student support & retention.
Military Friendly is operated by VIQTORY, a service-disabled, veteran business enterprise that connects the U.S. military community to civilian employment, educational, and entrepreneurial opportunities.
