On April 10, 2019, Sydney Brown (Zeta Tau Alpha) was one of the 110 students select from the nation to represent their Greek organization and campus in Washington D.C.   Brown worked with the Fraternal Government Relations Coalition and spoke with many congressmen and women including their staff about the importance of protecting the single-sex organizations that help Greek members grow during their college careers. They focused on three pieces of legislation that protected all single-sex organizations and supported the fight against hazing. In particular, the teams of students and alumni expressed support for the Report and Educate about Campus Hazing (REACH) Act, the Educational Notification and Disclosure of Actions risking Loss of Life (END ALL) by Hazing Act, and the Collegiate Freedom of Association Act.  Brown shares, “The Fraternal Government Relations Coalition and us students are standing against Harvard and other Higher Education institutions that are punishing students for being a part of organizations that we call home.”

The Fraternal Government Relations Coalition is a collaborative effort among the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC), the North-American Interfraternity Conference (NIC) and the Fraternity/Sorority Political Action Committee (FSPAC). The FGRC advocates for federal public policies that allow fraternities and sororities to continue their role developing the leadership skills, community engagement and academic support needed to transform today's students into tomorrow's leaders
