The University of North Texas’ Office of Disability Access is excited to launch its summer program crafted especially for parents, guardians, and supporters of students with disabilities.
The ODA Circle of Support/Parent Edition sessions provide essential information to help families guide their students as they begin their academic journey at UNT.
“We designed these sessions to help ease the transition to college life,” says Jessica Stone, director of the Office of Disability Access. “Parents, guardians and caretakers will gain valuable insights, access helpful resources, and connect with a supportive community dedicated to helping students thrive from day one.”
Topics include how to access disability accommodations, an overview of ODA student groups, other campus organizations for students with disabilities, and key university resources.
“We also collaborate on strategies that support their student’s academic success, personal growth, and increasing independence throughout their journey at UNT. These conversations are designed to empower families as partners in their student’s development, while also encouraging students to take ownership of their college experience,” Stone explains.
The program is offered on four dates during Summer 2025, three virtual and one in-person. All sessions will cover the same material, so attendees only need to participate once. American Sign Language interpreters will be available at each session. Visit ODA’s online calendar for more information and dates.
