All applicants must provide the following information:
Use the links below to download the latest version of the NTDC application.
Include a recent photograph of yourself. This photograph may be sent to offices as part of the placement process.
Include a one-page resume that outlines your educational background, honors and recognitions, work experience, and special skills (including foreign language proficiencies). If you do not have a current resume, check with the UNT Career Center for advice on format.
Two letters of recommendation are required. At least one letter must be from a faculty or staff member at UNT. Letters may be given to the student who will then attach them to their application and other supporting materials or may be sent directly to the Vice President for Student Affairs Office by the person making the recommendation. These can either be delivered to Hurley Suite 207 or emailed to ntdc@unt.edu. It is the student's responsibility to make sure that the recommendation is received by the deadline.
Official UNT transcripts may be obtained from the Registrar's Office, ESSC 147.
The essay component of your application is an essential part of your profile and will be sent to potential Washington DC placement sites. Congressional or agency supervisors will rely heavily on your essay to assess your writing and communication skills and determine whether you will be a good match with their organization. The essay also allows you to provide more details about your life experience and aspirations outside your transcript and resume. Take time to write a clear, thoughtful essay about your career goals and aspirations. Your essay will be evaluated on content, style and writing ability.
Do not try to write a research paper. Simply demonstrate that you have a serious interest and some background knowledge about issues that are important in your field. Your essay should indicate your concern for the issues, as well as your desire to learn more about them.
Students may drop off their application form at the Vice President for Student Affairs Office located in suite 207 of the Hurley Administration Building. Applications are due Friday, February 28th 2020 by 5:00 PM. Interview times for the group interviews will be determined at a later date.
