First Flight is UNT’s official welcome program, created to help students start the year strong and feel connected to the Mean Green community. Whether you are new to online learning at UNT, or a continuing online student, there’s a place for you in First Flight. All online First Flight programs will be available through the First Flight Canvas Course, launching in August. This course is your go-to space for schedules, virtual event links, and helpful resources. As an online student, you have two ways to participate:

Prefer a more flexible approach? You can also explore First Flight on your own terms. Pick and choose from a variety of virtual programs that match your interests and schedule. Whether you’re looking for academic tips, involvement opportunities, or ways to meet other students, there’s something for everyone.
Looking for a more guided and community-based experience? Join the First Flight Online Experience. The First Flight Online Experience is a completely virtual First Flight Experience designed specifically for online students. Whether you are new to online learning at UNT, or a continuing online student, First Flight is for you! You’ll be placed in a small group led by a First Flight Leader and attend a series of virtual programs together. This experience is designed to help you:

The First Flight Online Experience is a great way for online students to find a community at UNT. During the First Flight Online Experience you will be added to a small group led by a Online Student Ambassador. Together you will participate in activities, attend virtual events, and get to know the UNT community. The First Flight Online Experience is completely free, just register using the button below to participate. Registration closes Thursday, August 7, 2026.
