Beverly Maloney serves as the Director for the UNT Talent Search program, however,
her career in TRIO began 22 years ago at Texas State University in San Marcos as a
fledgling TS College Prep Advisor. It was just a part-time job but she was able to
hone her skills enough to be promoted to a full time TS Advisor and then later, a
TS Program Coordinator. After taking several grant writing classes, Beverly was intrigued
with the Administrative/Grant-writing side of Talent Search leading to a job as the
Program Director. Her drive to help inspire and guide teenagers to better their lives
by achieving educational and career goals is what keeps her working in TRIO, specifically
Talent Search.
Beverly grew up in the heart of the Texas Hill Country in the small town of Comfort. She attained her Associate of Arts in Business Management (Schreiner University), a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (The University of Texas at San Antonio), and a Master of Education in Guidance and Counseling, specializing in Student Affairs (Texas State University).
Fun Facts about Beverly:
In my spare time, (when I am not playing hide-and-seek with my 3 grandchildren), I
volunteer as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for foster children in the
Denton area. Growing up in the foster care system in the 70’s was a traumatic experience,
but it served to give me a new set of eyes and ears to help listen to, serve and advocate
for today’s foster children. Every child deserves a voice.
