Sophilia McTyre M.S.

Staff Bio:

Sophilia (known as Ms. Sophie to her students) has worked with TRIO Talent Search programs since January 2010. She has served as an advisor, assistant director and now holds the title of program director. Ms. McTyre has had the pleasure of serving hundreds of students and parents during her tenure with TRIO serving families in Cooke, Denton, Tarrant, and Wise counties.

What does TRIO mean to you?

“Identifying myself as a low-income, first generation student has largely shaped my unique perspectives and aspirations and provided me the direct understanding of the challenges and struggles faced by under-represented students. TRIO helped mold and motivate my drive for success and literally changed the trajectory of not only my life but my entire family. I am a proud TRIO Alumna of Student Support Services at Kilgore College and was honored to receive the TRIO Achiever Award in February 2017. TRIO definitely works!”
