How can I make sure I am registered to vote?

Visit https://teamrv-mvp.sos.texas.gov/MVP/mvp.do to check the status of your voter registration. Once logged in, you can see what upcoming elections you are able to vote in.

Although I live in Denton for college, I want to continue to impact my community back home so do not want to change where I am registered to vote. What should I do?

You can request a mail in ballot, but you must meet one of the following criteria in Texas to be approved: be 65 years of age or older, be out of the county during the entire election, be sick or disabled, or be confined in jail, but eligible to vote. If you do not meet one of these criteria, you will need to go home either during the early voting period or on Election Day to vote.

I'm registered to vote in Denton County, but not in Denton. Can I still vote on the UNT campus (when available)?

Yes! As long as you are registered to vote in Denton County, you can utilize UNT's polling location during early voting only. On Election Day, you would have to vote in your precinct.

If you have moved within Denton County, you can simply submit an “in-county” change online. 

I'm registered to vote, but outside of Denton County. Can I still vote on the UNT campus (when available)?
No. To vote on the UNT campus you will need re-register to vote in Denton County. If you have simply moved within Denton County, you can simply submit an “in-county” change online. 
What if I don't have a driver's license?

When you go to the polls, you do need an acceptable form of a photo ID, but it does not have to be your driver's license. Below is a list of approved forms of ID:

  • copy or original of a government document that shows the voter's name and an address, including the voter's voter registration certificate;
  • copy of or original current utility bill;
  • copy of or original bank statement;
  • copy of or original government check;
  • copy of or original paycheck; or
  • copy of or original of (a) a certified domestic (from a U.S. state or territory) birth certificate or (b) a document confirming birth admissible in a court of law which establishes the voter's identity (which may include a foreign birth document).

My photo ID is expired. Will it still work?
For voters aged 18-69, the acceptable form of photo identification may be expired no more than four years before being presented for voter qualification at the polling place.
Does the address on my ID have to match my address on the official list of registered voters at the time of voting in order for it to be acceptable as ID?
In Texas, no. There is no address matching requirement.
I have a disability that may impact my ability to successfully vote. Will I be accommodated?

Yes! The HART InterCivic Verity Touch Writer with Access voting unit is available at all voting locations to serve Denton County voters who are blind, have limited vision or limited dexterity that prevents them from marking the ballot without assistance. This is an ADA compliant voting system that is certified by the Texas Board of Elections for use in Texas. The Touch Writer with Access unit will be a voter option at all polling places during Early Voting In-Person and on Election Day.

I'd like to volunteer at the polls. Where can I sign up?

UNT is only able to provide a space for early voting and Election Day, but does not play any role in scheduling workers or the set-up of any polling location. If you would like to become an Election Poll Worker through the Denton County Election Commission, you must meet eligibility requirements, including being registered to vote in Denton County 30 days prior to Election Day.
