Bus Service at UNT

DCTA operates 12 UNT routes. All buses are equipped with bike racks and are ADA compliant allowing us to provide access for our entire community. The route map shows you the route the bus takes, the stops along the way and an estimate of the times they will be at the stop. The buses will not leave earlier than the time on the schedule. If the bus is full, they may pass over a stop. Please get to the stop with plenty of time to catch a ride. 

Walking

There are many benefits to walking to campus like saving on gas and parking costs and overall health and wellbeing. And if you are a commuter coming to campus by car, it is likely you will have to walk a fair amount to get to classes. We highly recommend bringing essentials with you to prep for the unexpected Texas climate and weather conditions. Please make sure you are wearing comfortbale footwear, drink plenty of water and keep an umbrella and sunscreen in your backpack. Biking

UNT offers several resources to support our bikers! The Mobile Bike Shop is sponsored by Transportation Services and We Mean Green Fund. Through a partnership with the We Mean Green Fund our department offers free U-locks to students who allow us to engrave their bicycles with their state or other ID number. This initiative helps deter theft of bikes by providing a sturdy bicycle lock. It also allows our department to get a stolen bike back to the proper owner if it is recovered because we can track the owner through the engraved ID on the bike. You can also join the UNT Cycling Club! Also make sure to browse what resources are available for cyclists by the City of Denton. 

DCTA

The Denton County Transportation Authority provides bus and rail service that connects Denton residents to schools, shopping, medical centers, the City of Lewisville and the DART system if you would like to visit other DFW places. 

Denton Med Park- Park & Ride

UNT offers a FREE Park and Ride in cooperation with the Denton County Transportation Authority. Staff and students may park at the Denton Med Park Station and ride the Colorado Express route into campus. Check schedule for times, as it may take 20 minutes or more to get to campus.

E-Ride

Eride operates in the fall and spring semesters when classes are in session, but not during holiday breaks and the summer months. The hours are Monday through Thursday 7pm to 2am and Friday through Sunday 4pm to 2am. This service is open only to UNT students ages 18 and older and you must have a valid UNT ID to ride the bus.

Call for an E-ride at 940-565-3014. If you are currently on an operating DCTA bus route you will be directed to that before you are issued an E-ride. Make sure and call only when you are at your pick-up destination and ready for a shuttle bus. The bus will only wait 5 minutes at your location before moving on to the next ride.

FlixBus

When the winter or spring holidays are just around the corner and it is time for students to see their families, there's a new transit option on campus for those who don't have vehicles on campus. FlixBus is a convenient, and affordable way to travel. Located in Lot 20 at the bus station stop, FlixBus can take students to cities like Dallas, Corsicana, Waco, Temple, Huntsville, Austin, San Marcos, Houston, or San Antonio. However, it doesn't just have stops in the state of Texas; it has stops in 11 different states so you can explore ways to make connections to other parts of the U.S. FlixBus offers low-cost tickets on their website and app - and they offer free Wi-Fi included in each ride. Flixbus also keeps eco-friendly travel in mind. If one desires, they can opt to purchasing “CO2 Compensation” tickets where the CO2 emissions from your travel are calculated. These tickets are donated to Cleaner Cook Stoves in Rwanda, an UN-accredited Gold Standard Climate Protection Project. GoZone On-Demand

 An on-demand rideshare service, powered by Via, that riders utilize for trips within, and sometimes between, designated zones in Denton County. The on-demand service uses a mobile app where passengers book their trips in real-time. A fleet of dedicated vans is used to pick up and drop off riders at virtual stops within the zones. 

Commuter Vanpool

Commuter Vanpools are DCTA’s Vantastic way of giving you a comfortable, cost-effective and convenient way to get to work. Ideal for groups of six to 15 people, vanpools reduce stress, help the environment and save you money. One person volunteers to be the driver/coordinator of the vanpool and rides free. The riders share the cost of operating the vanpool. 

A-train Rail Trail

The 19-mile A-train Rail Trail runs alongside the A-train and was designed to complement its surroundings and adjacent facilities. The rail trail is part of our ongoing efforts to provide safe, customer-focused and efficient mobility solutions to Denton County. It connects existing transit facilities with key destinations within Denton, Highland Village, Lewisville and surrounding areas.

Transit to UNT Frisco

UNT offers classes at two locations in the City of Frisco. UNT offers a guide for parking and transit information for those campuses. 
Frisco Landing is located at 12995 Preston Road, Frisco, TX 75033.
Inspire Park is located at 6170 Research Road, Frisco, TX 75033.

For Visitors

We require parking permits 24 hours a day to park on campus – this includes days when school may not be in session and during the summer. If you don’t use a parking permit, you are subject to a citation. Daily visitor permits are available in specified lots. Hourly parking and garage parking is also available. Parking permit, hourly parking, garage parking and rates information can be found here. If you are attending an event on campus, please check with the event organizer for guidance on where to park. If there is none, then you will need a UNT or visitor parking permit, or use the hourly parking lots.
