Getting To, From, & Around Campus

While commuting to UNT, there are a variety of different ways to get to campus. Below are various resources students use to make their commute easier! See below for information about UNT resources and also off-campus resources available to you!

UNT Commuter Resources

Bus Service at UNT

DCTA operates 12 UNT routes. All buses are equipped with bike racks and are ADA compliant allowing us to provide access for our entire community. The route map shows you the route the bus takes, the stops along the way and an estimate of the times they will be at the stop. To track your bus during your commute, download the Transit app on your phone! This app tracks all DCTA buses in real-time, letting you see where your bus is along your route. To learn more about this app, visit UNT's Transportation site here.

Walking Around Campus

There are many benefits to walking to campus like saving on gas and parking costs and overall health and wellbeing. And if you are a commuter coming to campus by car, it is likely you will have to walk a fair amount to get to classes. We highly recommend bringing essentials with you to prep for the unexpected Texas climate and weather conditions. Please make sure you are wearing comfortbale footwear, drink plenty of water and keep an umbrella and sunscreen in your backpack. Pro-tip: cut through buildings on your way to across campus to beat the heat! Don't forget to check out Denton's Bike and Pedestrian Safety information.

Biking Around Campus
UNT offers several resources to support their bikers! The Mobile Bike Shop is sponsored by Transportation Services and We Mean Green Fund. Through a partnership with the We Mean Green Fund their department offers free U-locks to students who allow them to engrave their bicycles with their state or other ID number. This initiative helps deter theft of bikes by providing a sturdy bicycle lock. It also allows their department to get a stolen bike back to the proper owner if it is recovered because we can track the owner through the engraved ID on the bike. You can also join the UNT Cycling Club! Also make sure to browse what resources are available for cyclists by the City of Denton.
Denton Med-Park: Park & Ride
UNT offers a FREE Park and Ride in cooperation with the Denton County Transportation Authority. Staff and students may park at the Denton Med Park Station and ride the Colorado Express route into campus. Check schedule for times, as it may take 20 minutes or more to get to campus.
UNT/Lyft Program
If you’re on campus between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m. and need to get back to your residence hall or vehicle without walking, UNT offers free Lyft rides through our late-night safety program. Use the semester ride code to redeem your free rides anytime during the fall term. To access the free ride code and learn more, visit UNT Transportation's site here.
UNT Motorist Assistance

The UNT Transportation Services Motorist Assistance Program provides basic roadside assistance to help get you back on the road safely while you're on campus.

Our team can assist with:

  • Inflating flat tires (tire changes are not provided)
  • Jump-starting a vehicle with a dead battery
  • Providing a ride to a nearby gas station if your vehicle has run out of fuel (you are responsible for purchasing your own gas)
